When you commit to becoming a Sisu skier, you’re signing up for a lot more than a simple weekend away with a bunch of nice inclusions. You’re actually investing in your own well-being: mental, physical, and emotional. We break it down with these six science-backed reasons.

1. Experience the Compound Interest of Skill Building 🧱

Taking a lesson in any new skill is powerful. But taking multiple lessons over the course of consecutive days? That’s the way to unlock new levels of achievement. At Sisu we focus on the foundations of solid skiing and build slowly and steadily. And it works.¹²

2. Anticipate a Good Time 🥂

No one needs to read the studies that prove having a trip or new experience on the horizon gives you something to look forward to, and in turn a boost of good energy.³ In fact, they’ve even shown that anticipating a happier future can provide an improved sense of meaning.⁴ This has certainly been the case for us. We hope it is for you, too!

3. Gain Confidence 🏆

Most of our skiers are beginners, and many have never even touched skis before. I teach from the literal ground up to support all skill levels, and work with a second instructor every year so that you can grow no matter your experience. If you can go from not knowing how to click into your skis to confidently tackling a hill on sticks narrower than your iPhone over the course of a weekend, what else can you do?

4. Prioritize YOU 💆🏻‍♀️

Many of the women who attend Sisu Ski Retreat are mothers, partners, entrepreneurs, caretakers, and more—and they never, ever have enough time to hit the reset button. This retreat offers that space and so much more so that you can finally meet your own needs, whether that’s resting more or pushing into a new skill.⁵⁶

5. Retreat to Your OWN Space 🛏

Even the social butterflies need a little alone time, right? That’s why we feature (almost) exclusively private rooms at Sisu Ski Retreat (only two rooms are shared in Washington, but no shared beds). This means that at the end of the day–or at any time during it–you can retreat to your own space to read, nap, call your family, meditate, make a mess, whatever it is that YOU want to do. Maintaining a normal adult-level of personal space is one of many aspects we will never compromise on.

It’s cliche but true. Making friends later in life in a world dominated by social media division can be hard. What better way to connect with other likeminded women than over a full weekend. Not one coffee, but shared meals on repeat. The joy (and laughter) of learning together, and being fully present with no distractions.
